about

ALSO ON NET CENTURY: netcentury.bandcamp.com/album/the-murky-lights

The year is 2199.

Scotland's capital city, Edinburgh is a neon light tinged crime haven.
Killings, robberies and general knife crime is at an all time high, and the police are in a constant battle with the violent gangs. The Paradise Club, once a bar and a nightclub that was a haven for LGBT culture, has now been stripped of it's original identity and has become a hangout for the gangsters and criminals that roam the city's Old Town, and the outskirts of the New Town. The Old Town was turned into a massive slum. Living conditions in the slums are shocking, yet the locals recieve no aid from the government, so as to starve out the criminals and lure them into the New Town.
In contrast, the New Town is a cathode lit, beautiful area with sky scraper buildings mixing with old traditional architecture still standing after all these years.
Waverly Station has been subjected to multiple riots by the criminal gangs. Brutal skirmishes between police riot control and armed looters occur frequently and last throughout the day. Civillians are warned to refrain from using the Waverly station for transport to other areas in Scotland.
Edinburgh has also been locked in a perpetual rainfall. It is a common sight to see citizens wearing raincoats 24/7. This has given the city its nickname: "The Murky Lights".
